Taste of Chocolate Thank You

Thank you to everyone who made the Frothingham Free Library's 3rd annual Taste of Chocolate a success. The Frothingham Free Library in Fonda is pleased to be exhibiting the art of Cherie Batcher during the month of February.
Cherie's artwork was exhibited at the library previously in 2007. In more recent years, she has concentrated mainly on painted glassware, which has become very popular.
Cherie grew up in Johnstown and graduated from Johnstown schools. As well as her interest in painting, she has held various positions, the longest at NBT Bank in Fonda and Johnstown for approximately 25 years. She also served as library clerk at Frothingham and presently works part time at the Montgomery County Clerk's office. Cherie spends free time enjoying her grandchildren and painting. She loves to show her granddaughter the fundamentals of glass painting, and Katelyn is willing to learn.
Cherie's interest in painting became more than a hobby in the year 2000. She started out using the Donna Dewberry style of "One Stroke Painting" technique. Other than using books and instructional tapes, Cherie is self taught. Over the years, her painting has taken on her own style. To date, she has painted well over 1,500 glasses for gifts, retail stores, weddings, craft fairs and meetings. She particularly loves painting stemware for weddings and showers. She has provided table favors of stemware that reflect the colors and flowers of the wedding. To date she has painted for seven weddings and two showers, with another two weddings booked for 2012.
Besides stemware and all kinds of glassware, she also sells her signs, by order, on slate or wood. As well as seeing her work at the Library in February, her products are also sold at Old Peddlers' Wagon in Amsterdam, Country Cupboard and Spirits of the Adirondacks, both in Johnstown. She will also be providing stemware and glasses for Mountain Memories in Wells later this year.
